Obama, McCain and the Farm Bureau
On September 22, 2008 the Farm Bureau released the information gleaned from the questionnaire submitted to the Presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain. The results are as follows:
McCain wants to expand international trade and uphold the current trade policy. He also wants to reform the crop insurance program. McCain also wants to exempt farmers from greenhouse gas caps. In addition he promises to lower tax rates and a higher estate value exemption.
Obama wants to implement the 2008 farm bill that congress passed. In addition he wants immigration reform to increase the number of migrant workers (temporary labor workers) needed to bring in American crops. Obama also wants to lower tax rates, but his is higher than McCains. (McCain 15 percent and $10 million vs. Obama 45 percent and $7 million).
