We Dodged the Ice Storm - Did You?

Winter Barn View

The storm came and went, leaving lots of devastation in its wake.  We received about six inches of snow yesterday, along with a healthy topping of sleet.  Just the thing you want to see when you live on the side of a mountain.  When my husband went outside to check on the animals in the barn I could have sworn he said “It’s all downhill from here.”  I was ecstatic when the temperature outside finally was in the double digits this morning.  Yippee!

We’re lucky to have electricity, whereas many people across the nation aren’t so lucky.  There are people are freezing, literally.  If you know of any people in those areas hardest hit, find a way to check up on them if you’re able.  I’m afraid we’ll find out people didn’t make it through the storm, and it will be days before they’re found.  I know there is cell phone service in some of those areas, but eventually those batteries will die if they aren’t recharged.  The time to track down friends and family is now!  Reporters have stated some areas may not have their electricity restored for another 2-3 weeks- and that is still February, folks.

We’re  expecting overnight lows of 15 tonight with a high tomorrow of 28.  Veritably balmy after all of the below freezing temps for the past week.  Hope all of you are warm and well, wherever you may be.
