Global Warming? 40 Degrees in NY!

Published by gerberink at 11:03 pm under Daily News Edit This

All kidding aside, it was a whopping 40 degrees in upstate NY today.  Just in time as my fuel line had froze in the old Cadillac.  We haven’t been able to drive it for 3 days running.  We haven’t had this many sub zero overnight temperatures since I can’t remember when.  I guess the Farmer’s Almanac was right- we are having one of the worst Jan/Feb combos in recent history.  I only hope my car’s fuel line, and the tractor too, doesn’t freeze up again this winter.  I actually had to buy the anti-freeze junk to put in the gas tank.  Global warming?  I wish!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a whopping 35 degrees- at least it is still above freezing.  Then we’ll have more normal temps again- daytime highs in the 20’s and overnight lows in the single digits.

We have some neighbors that had to pack up and move to a local hotel for a while.  Their plumbing completely froze, including their septic tank while they went on vacation for a few weeks.  Talk about a nightmare!  They tried scooping up snow and melting it on the stove for a day or two, but finally gave up.  I’m hopeful they’ll get things fixed this week.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they threw in the towel this winter.

Well, I’m off to check on the chickens to make sure no one is without food and water this evening.  Hopefully you readers are warm and cozy, and watching the Super Bowl, wherever you are this evening!
